Hair Regrowth Treatment for Hair Loss by Saw Palmetto

by on July 4, 2014 in Hair Regrowth Treatment

Various medications and hair regrowth treatment procedures have been developed so that the problems of Hair Loss would be addressed well. The thing is that more and more people are faced with thinning hair and yet, the solutions that are available are either not that effective or are too harsh that even if they work to stop hair loss, the adverse effects would still leave a person problematic. The good news for people though is that more and more companies and individuals are developing hair regrowth treatment solutions that are effective, natural and safe.

The plant has been used for a very long time to treat various health conditions. The low-cost herbal medicine has been the top option for most that have issues with the very expensive price of most clinical procedures and treatments. Before, hair experts were only keen to the idea that the plant is helpful in treating hair loss but recently, studies have been pushed further to explore the possibility of the plant to actually promote hair growth naturally.

There are studies that found out that saw palmetto works as a hair regrowth treatment by inhibiting the production of DHT. The testosterone produces DHT which shrinks the hair follicles and hair shaft thus preventing hair growth. What saw palmetto does is prevent the conversion of testosterone to DHT.

Over the years and because of various studies, the plant has been transformed to different forms so that using it for treatment would be made easier. These forms could range from tablets, essential oils and extracts among others.

One of the More Prominent Plants Used For Hair Regrowth Treatment Is Saw Palmetto

A medium palm type of plant, saw palmetto is scientifically called as Serenoa repens. It grows mainly in the southeastern part of the United States along the coast. The plant produces yellow flowers and reddish-black berries where the extract is taken. The berries are very high in Fatty Acids and Phytosterols- known to help reduce cholesterol levels. The fruit is taken from the plant when it is partially dried and then broken down to a solvent like hexane or ethanol.

In various countries, the plant extracts are being used not just as a hair regrowth treatment but as treatment for prostatis, enlarged prostate, benign prostatic hypertrophy and various other illnesses.

Most of the time, most people would already think that because the products that they are using are natural it will not have side effects. But there are some things that must be taken into consideration when taking in or using certain products. The intake of saw palmetto for instance may not have notable side effects, unlike most synthetic medications. Some people though would complain about stomach pain, vomiting, diarrhea or constipation and nausea. Stomach problems may be natural for some who are very sensitive to certain tastes or components. There are also people who reportedly suffer insomnia, depression, muscle, head and chest pains, heart problems and high blood pressure. Most of saw palmetto products which are used as a hair regrowth treatment are topical so these “side effects” may not occur.
